The mining collection at the Doris Foley Library is comprised of books, mine maps, public records and newspapers containing information on the rich mining history of Nevada County. Beginning in 1848 with panning during the Gold Rush, and continuing through hydraulic and hardrock mining which ended in the mid 1950s, Nevada County has the distinction of being the top gold producing county in California.

Collections are self-service, open to the public.
