Consists of historical data compiled from 2010 through 2013 by Bruce Lau, Secretary-Treasurer of Roofers and Waterproofers Union, Local 40 in San Francisco. Data spans the years from 1900 to 2013. Includes statistics related to active and expelled members, Local 40 officers, international presidents, business agents, a history of wage scale increases for journeyman workers in Local 40, and two CD-ROMs of The Journeyman Roofer and Waterproofer magazine covering the years 1911 through 2013.

In 1900, roofers in San Francisco organized themselves without any parent affiliation as the Felt & Composition Roofers, Local 1. After the 1906 earthquake, they joined with the International Brotherhood of Composition Roofers, Damp and Waterproof Workers and in 1908 were chartered as Local 25. In 1919, at the International Convention in Pittsburgh, the International Slate and Tile Roofers Union of America and the International Brotherhood of Composition Roofers, Damp and Waterproof Workers merged to form the United Slate, Tile and Composition Roofers, Damp and Waterproof Workers Association. At this point, Local 25 merged with another Local and was renumbered Local 40. Local 40 covers San Francisco and San Mateo counties.
